Winter Wonderland For A Day
Santa is coming to town for the children and families at the Ronald McDonald House at Egleston! Our foundation hosts a toy drive in December to provide the children with a holiday they will never forget. This toy drive has drop-off locations all throughout metro Atlanta, and is possible because of the supportive surrounding communities. The toys are then organized by age and gender ranging from babies to teens.
The event itself takes place at the Ronald McDonald House where our board members and volunteers go in to create a Winter Wonderland. We decorate the main lobby with holiday cheer, display the toys for the children to select from, and get the craft room set up for some Christmas fun!
The families are brought down stairs for the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Clause. Each child has their own personal meet and greet with Santa and Mrs. Clause, during which they are able to tell Santa what they would like for Christmas. Our board members dress up as Santa’s elves and distribute toys to the children during their moment with Santa, and Mrs. Clause gives them a stuffed animal and blanket brought specially from the North Pole! The children end their one-on- one visit with Santa with photos taken by our professional photographer.
Following their visit with Santa, we provide cookie decorating, karaoke, and Christmas crafts! Our volunteers, board members, and even Santa himself gets a chance to celebrate the holidays with the families by singing karaoke with the kids, helping decorate bags and picture frames, assisting with the frosting and sprinkles for the cookies, and just visiting with them. Winter Wonderland For A Day focuses on bringing the magic of Santa and Christmas cheer to the kids and their families that they might not have had otherwise.
