A Welcome Message from the Denver Chapter Director
Hello all!
I grew up in Saint Paul, Minnesota and am just coming up on a year of living in Denver. I moved out to Colorado to enjoy the weather, snowboard, and spend as much time outside as possible.
At the end of 2016 my mother was diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer. Over the course of the treatment process we also found out that she carried the BCRA2 gene. After several months of doctor's visits, surgeries, and chemo treatments, my mother's cancer was gone and she was able to begin the journey of returning to a normal life. The care and kindness of everyone we encountered during that process made our families lives so much easier.
That was a huge reason for me wanting to get involved in something that would give me a chance to give back. I read about The For a Day Foundation and loved the idea of helping a child's life not be defined by their sickness. I think that mission is very important and can't wait to do my part.

Nemours Children's Hospital - February 20
Our first hospital visit!
We were happy to have two wonderful boys attend our first event. Noah (5) and Corey (2) came to visit with their parents. They chose their capes and masks and then sat down to decorate a picture frame for their superhero picture. Both boys were a joy to interact with for the hour and a half we were there.
Many patients were not able to attend due to being in isolation. Shalese and Melissa, from Child Life, took capes, masks and some frames to 1 girl and 3 boys that we were not able to visit.
Northern NY Chapter Receives Donation from Haylor, Freyer & Coon
A huge thank you to Haylor, Freyer, & Coon and their employees for a generous donation of $1140! As of February 1st, we have raised $1650 towards our $1500 goal. In addition, the employees are generously hosting a supply drive for toys and gifts for our hospital visits. The additional funds we continue to raise will go towards hospital visits and special experiences for families in 2018. Our BIG goal is $3000, so please keep giving! We cannot wait to bring this joy to our next visit!
Our Wish List and How You Can Help
The Minneapolis Miracle!
Our incredible local committee worked some real magic to send one of our local kids to a Vikings game. It just so happened it was quite the game to attend - at the last minute, the Vikings made an incredible play and won, sending them to the NFC championship. Better yet, the miracle play was made by our lucky attendee's favorite player and they were only yards away from the thrilling action.
AND THEN...Roger Goodell handed our Viking fan and his brother two tickets to THE SUPER BOWL! We worked it out so the entire family can now attend and we are THRILLED for this experience of a lifetime!
This is what we and our volunteers LOVE to do. For those of you who donate or participate in our For a Day 5K, this is what it's all for and we thank you for providing us the means to jump into opportunities like this.
