Aug 8 - Camp Quality of NJ

The PA chapter enjoyed a return visit to Camp Quality of NJ summer camp in the most peaceful wooded setting.

We immediately got to work arranging and draping the tables in stations under the pavilion.  The children were off enjoying paddle boarding when we arrived.

The day was very warm and breezy, but we were able to set up three stations under the pavilion to accommodate all the children and counselors.  Station 1: hero’s shield painting table complete with wooden shields, paints, markers and brushes.  Station 2: capes and masks that each child took with them once their shields dried and Station 3: nail polish and foam crown decorating which the camp counselors enjoyed the most by decorating nails and crowns with and for the children.  Everyone was definitely in an artistic mode that day coming up with some very creative ideas for their shields.

The camp also scheduled small farm animals during our event.  There was also a water balloon station and Disney’s Moana joined in on the fun.  There was so much excitement, laughter and screeches especially when it came to petting and interacting with the baby animals which consisted of goats, ostrich, pot belly pig, rabbits, ferrets, hens, and a small pony.

Overall, we saw 32 children.  Everyone was very appreciative of all the goodies and our visit.  We are all looking forward to Summer 2020 and returning to Camp Quality of NJ.  We share the same commitment to create memorable experiences for children with cancer, that enhance their quality of life where kids can be kids again away from treatments and clinic visits and encourage quality family time.

I would like to ‘THANK’ my most dedicated friend and volunteer, Reshma, who has been volunteering at every For a Day Event, by my side for the past 5 years.
