November 12 - MD Anderson Cancer Center

Tuesday, November 12th, was a very cold day in Houston but from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM many hearts were warmed at a very special event for children with cancer at MD Anderson Cancer Center. This time we had more girls than boys, 5 girls and 3 boys.

We were overjoyed to have Elsa and Anna visit us, thanks to Houston Hero Headquarters. The children were so happy to interact with and have their photos taken with Elsa and Anna. One little girl went running to them while screaming “Elsa! Anna!” as soon as she saw them in the event.

We had a fantastic face painter Michele from Houston Face Painting and Balloons Art. The children were so excited thinking of the images they wanted to be painted on their faces and arms. They especially loved viewing their faces and arms afterwards in the mirror.

We were able to provide an amazing lunch, thanks to Cane Rosso! They provided their famous, delicious pizza for the children and their families, a total of 50 guests.

We had a table with the tiaras, superhero capes and masks. We also had signed books donated to the families by two authors. We had books from Pauline Madsen (Wonders of Wade) and Stacy Holden (People of Memorial Park).

We also had a table with craft activities. We had drawstring bags for the children to color, photo frames that they were able to decorate to display the mini Polaroid photos that we took. The children always love to get their Polaroid photos. We always enjoy watching their surprised faces as the photo starts to show. We also had superhero ornaments to put together and thank you cards for them to write to their special friends.
We want to thank the volunteers from Elite Care 24 Hour Emergency Center at Rice Village and the volunteers from New York Life Insurance.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving we want to express our gratitude to each volunteer who helps us change treatment days into fun days.

We want to thank our amazing committee! Our committee members are amazing. They work tirelessly and are always looking into different ways to support our organization and help it make a positive impact in Houston.

Special thanks to our sponsors Global, Elite Care 24 Hour Emergency Center at Rice Village, Goldfish Swim School, Smile Sonrisa Dental, and California Kitchen Pizza.
Thanks to all your support we have been able to provide services to 257 children from January 2019 to November 2019!
